Rhinoplasty in İstanbul

A nose job in İstanbul, Turkey by an ENT surgeon who plans the shape around your face and your breathing — for a natural result that still looks like you.

01Overview

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty — commonly called a nose job — is surgery that reshapes the nose to improve its appearance, its proportion to the face, or the way it works. It can refine the bridge, lift or define the tip, narrow the nostrils, or correct a bump or a crooked line.

In İstanbul, Op. Dr. Arda Pelen performs rhinoplasty as an ear-nose-throat (ENT) surgeon. That matters: the nose is not only a feature on your face, it is also how you breathe. Because he trained first in the function of the nose — the septum, the airway, the internal structure — the way your nose looks and the way it works are planned together in one operation, never traded against each other.

The goal here is a natural result: a nose that fits your face and is proportionate, balanced and still recognisably yours — not a single “ideal” shape applied to everyone.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most requested facial procedures in Turkey, and İstanbul has become a leading destination for international patients looking for experienced surgeons and accredited hospitals. A rhinoplasty can be purely cosmetic, purely functional (to improve breathing), or both at once — which is where an ENT background is a genuine advantage.

02Is it for you

Are you a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

You may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty if you are in good general health, your facial growth is complete (usually 18+), and you have a clear, realistic idea of what you would like to change. A consultation confirms what is possible for your anatomy.

Often a good fit

  • A bump, a wide bridge, or a drooping or bulbous tip you’d like refined
  • A crooked nose, or asymmetry after an injury
  • Difficulty breathing alongside an aesthetic concern
  • Realistic goals and good general health

× We’ll be honest if

  • · Your goal isn’t achievable for your skin or bone structure
  • · Facial growth isn’t yet complete
  • · A non-surgical option would serve you better
  • · Expectations don’t match what surgery can safely deliver

03How it’s done

The ENT difference: shape and breathing, planned as one.

Dr. Pelen performs open rhinoplasty — a tiny incision across the columella that gives full access to the bridge and tip for precise, controlled reshaping. The septum and the airway are assessed in the same plan, so shape and breathing are addressed together.

Because the nose is an airway as much as a feature, every aesthetic plan starts on the inside. The septum is checked, the nasal valves and breathing are assessed, and any functional issue is addressed at the same time — so a better-looking nose is also a better-working one.

Open rhinoplasty

A tiny columellar incision opens the nose for full visibility — ideal for complex reshaping with a result checked from every angle.

Precise tip work

With the framework fully exposed, the tip cartilages are shaped under direct view for accurate, lasting definition.

An ENT surgeon trains first in

Airway & breathing

How air actually moves through your nose — assessed, not assumed.

The septum

The internal wall that supports both how the nose works and how it holds its shape.

Internal structure

The framework that cosmetic-only approaches often leave untouched.

Form, planned on top

Aesthetics designed onto a nose that already works — never the other way round.

Function first, then form.

04Before & after

Real rhinoplasty results.

Every pair is shown at a consistent angle and lighting, with the time elapsed labelled and consent on file. Results vary from person to person — these are examples, not a guarantee of your outcome.

05Surgical approaches

Types of rhinoplasty we perform.

There is no single template that suits every nose. Dr. Pelen performs open rhinoplasty and tailors the scope of the operation — from a focused tip refinement to full reshaping with airway correction — to your anatomy, your skin and what you would like to change.

06Timing

What is the best age for rhinoplasty?

The best age for rhinoplasty is once facial growth is complete — generally from around 17 for women and 18 for men. There is no strict upper limit: healthy adults in their 40s, 50s and beyond have rhinoplasty safely, provided they are in good general health.

Operating before growth finishes risks the nose changing again as the face matures, so we will always be honest if it is better to wait. For older patients, the priorities are the same as for anyone: good general health, realistic goals, and a thorough assessment beforehand.

Long-term results

Healed and natural, months on.

Settled results in everyday life, long after the swelling has gone. Every result is individual — these are representative examples, not a guarantee of your outcome.

07How it’s performed

How is rhinoplasty performed?

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and takes roughly 1.5–3 hours. The bony and cartilage framework of the nose is carefully reshaped — and, when needed, the septum and airway are corrected in the same operation — before a light splint or cast supports the new shape.

08Safety

Is rhinoplasty safe? Risks, honestly explained.

Rhinoplasty is a well-established, generally safe operation, and serious complications are uncommon. But it is real surgery, and every operation carries some risk — which is why we explain it fully before you decide, rather than after.

How safety is protected

  • An accredited hospital with a full anaesthesia team
  • An ENT-trained surgeon operating only on the nose
  • A thorough pre-operative health assessment
  • Clear aftercare and long-term follow-up

× Risks to be aware of

  • · Swelling and bruising — expected, and temporary
  • · Small risks of bleeding or infection, as with any surgery
  • · Healing varies; a minor revision is occasionally needed
  • · The final shape takes months to fully settle

09Recovery

How long is recovery after rhinoplasty?

Most people return to everyday life within 7–10 days, once the cast is off and the early bruising fades. Swelling settles gradually, and the final refined result continues to appear over 6–12 months.

Days 1–2

Rest with the cast on

Mild discomfort, congestion and swelling are normal. You rest; the team stays in touch.

Days 6–7

Cast removed

The external cast comes off — usually just before you travel home. First glimpse of the new shape.

Weeks 2–3

Back to daily life

Most bruising has faded; many return to work and light routines. Strenuous exercise still paused.

Months 1–3

Swelling settles

The nose looks increasingly natural as deeper swelling subsides week by week.

Months 6–12

Final result

The tip refines last; the definitive, settled result appears over the first year.

10Aftercare

Aftercare: how to support your recovery.

Good aftercare makes a real difference to your result. The essentials are simple: rest with your head elevated, keep the area clean and protected, avoid anything that raises pressure in the nose, and follow your surgeon’s guidance closely.

Do

  • Sleep with your head raised for the first weeks
  • Use the saline and any cleaning routine as advised
  • Protect your nose from the sun while it heals
  • Attend follow-ups and message us with any concern

× Avoid

  • · Blowing your nose or any knocks to the area
  • · Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for a few weeks
  • · Glasses resting on the bridge until cleared
  • · Smoking, which slows healing

13Questions

Rhinoplasty in İstanbul — your questions.

How much does rhinoplasty cost in İstanbul?+
There is no single price — your rhinoplasty quote is personalised to your nose and goals. The fastest way to get a real, all-inclusive figure is to send a few clear photos on WhatsApp for a free assessment. No deposit is required to see a price.
Is rhinoplasty in İstanbul safe?+
Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia in a fully accredited hospital, by an ENT-trained nose surgeon. As with any operation there are risks, which are explained honestly at your consultation so you can decide with full information.
How long do I need to stay in İstanbul?+
Plan for around seven nights. The operation takes roughly 1.5–3 hours, you stay one night in hospital, and the cast is removed on day six or seven — just before you travel home. If you’re travelling from abroad, we can also help arrange your transfer and accommodation on request.
Will rhinoplasty change the way I breathe?+
It can improve it. Because Dr. Pelen is an ENT surgeon, your septum and airway are assessed and, where needed, corrected in the same operation — so the aim is a nose that both looks and works better.
When will I see my final result?+
You’ll see the new shape as soon as the cast comes off, but swelling settles gradually. Most of it fades within a few weeks, while the final, refined result — especially at the tip — appears over 6 to 12 months.
Why is rhinoplasty more affordable in Turkey?+
Lower operating and living costs in Turkey mean experienced surgeons and accredited hospitals can offer rhinoplasty for considerably less than in the UK or much of Europe — without lowering surgical standards. The right question is always the surgeon’s experience, not just the price.
What is the best age for rhinoplasty?+
Once facial growth is complete — generally from around 17 for women and 18 for men. There is no strict upper age limit; healthy adults of any age can have rhinoplasty, subject to a full health assessment.
Does rhinoplasty leave a visible scar?+
Dr. Pelen uses the open technique, which involves one tiny incision on the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils). It typically fades to near-invisible within a few months, while all other incisions are hidden inside the nose.
Can rhinoplasty be combined with breathing surgery?+
Yes — and this is a key advantage of an ENT surgeon. If you have a deviated septum or nasal obstruction, it can be corrected in the same operation as the aesthetic reshaping, so you recover once and breathe better too.
